{Press Release for Downton Abbey Soiree at Bulloch Hall in historic Roswell, Georgia}
Are you a Downton Abbey fan? If so, you will want to come to Bulloch Hall in Roswell, Georgia on Saturday, May 2nd for our “Dressed for Drama” Downton Soiree. Wedding folklorist and costume historian, Cornelia Powell, will be our guest speaker (some may know her from her nationally celebrated bridal art-to-wear store in Buckhead in the ‘80s and ‘90s.) Ms. Powell was guest speaker at Winterthur Museum last year during their “Costumes of Downton Abbey” exhibition and will speak at the “Dressing Downton” exhibit at Biltmore House this spring in Asheville, North Carolina. We are thrilled that she is bringing her “Downton Abbey” costume expertise to Bulloch Hall.
The day’s event—kicking off our National Preservation Month celebration—includes a talk and PowerPoint presentation by Ms. Powell, book signing, shopping at a “Vintage Collections” pop-up boutique, an afternoon tea, and a tour of Bulloch Hall to see the beautiful vintage clothing exhibit provided by the Roswell Historical Society. Period literature, films, and television—including the wildly popular PBS series “Downton Abbey”—provide the inspiration for the “Dressed for Drama” exhibition.
Guests will also have the opportunity to buy an autographed copy of the Amazon best-selling author’s recently published book, The End of the Fairy-Tale Bride {Volume One} For Better or Worse, How Princess Diana Rescued the Great White Wedding.
There will be two seatings for this English-inspired engagement on May 2nd: Join us either at 11 a.m. or 3 p.m. Tickets are $40 and reservations must be made in advance by calling 770 992-1731. Ext. 2, 3, or 4. (Space is limited.)
The costume exhibit “Dressed for Drama” can be seen at Bulloch Hall through the months of May and June during regular scheduled tours: Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sundays 1-3 p.m.
